Building a Reliable Login Flow
Implemented and tested a login flow with clearer validation and error messages. Learned how small interface details can make authentication easier to use.
What I worked on
I added a login form with email and password fields, input validation, and clear messages for missing or incorrect information. I also connected the form to the authentication endpoint and added a loading state while the request is in progress.
What I learned
I learned that validation is most helpful when it tells people how to fix a problem. Showing a message beside the relevant field is clearer than displaying a generic error at the top of the page.
What I decided
I kept client-side validation for quick feedback and relied on the server for the final authentication decision. The interface now handles both validation errors and server errors without exposing technical details.
What I’ll do next
I’ll add tests for successful login, incorrect passwords, and network failures, then check the form with keyboard navigation and a screen reader.
